The remainder of Mr Man’s Dad’s visit was a whirlwind of watching the crazies down in the French Quarter for Mardi Gras. It’s a great time to see the parades (I still haven’t seen a full one) and for the people watcher in all of us…well…you just can’t believe it until you see it for yourself!! Here’s a peek…

As always we had to tour Jackson Square and the French Market but we took in some quiet time too at City Park with a stroll through the sculpture gardens and a riveting game of Mini Golf. Spring is amongst us in the city too!!

A new adventure for us was going outside the quarter to wander through Louis Armstrong Park, it was lovely but it’s hard to compete with the expansiveness of City Park!! Toss in a couple of rides on the Ferry, many ‘sippy cups’ aka Frozen Daiquiri and nearly 30 miles of walking and you have yourself a tour of New Orleans during Mardi Gras!!

Thankfully we had great weather all the way up to Mardi Gras Day so our tourist activities weren’t dampened in the slightest. As for the big day itself, well, that’s a completely different story…with a whopping high of 44 (I know you Northerners are crying big tears for us) and enough wind to go right through ya…we didn’t venture to terribly far. The original plan was to go see our good friends as they ride in a parade but I just couldn’t make myself sit outside in the cold for several hours… Sorry Suzanne & Casey!! Hopefully we’ll be with y’all on the float next year!!

And so… Another great visit and great Mardi Gras has come and went… We had a great visit, shared some laughs, reconnected and reminisced. That’s what it’s all about folks!!

With Much Love
